La Bohème

Put your opera glasses away - you don’t need them at Cinnabar. Get your opera up close and personal. Puccini’s most beloved melodies tell the story of six young Bohemians as they experience the hilarities and sorrows of friendship, art and love while living on the edge of Parisian society. If you’ve never been to an opera, this one, performed in English in our intimate setting, is the best introduction you can have. Seasoned veterans know that, no matter how many times we see this opera, it never fails to touch our hearts. Cinnabar’s talented young singers are a joy to behold and a delight to hear. You can’t miss the lyrical beauty and the emotional impact. And remember: La Bohème makes the ultimate romantic date!

Review by David Templeton Bohemian.com
Grand Opera Cinnabar Theater's spare 'La Bohème' is heartbreakingly good

[La Bohème] is exactly the kind of opera at which Cinnabar excels. Directed by Elly Lichenstein, with musical direction from Nina Shuman, this new production benefits from strong lead performers, who can both sing beautifully and act with tremendous depth and emotional truth...

n four relatively short acts—staged fluidly with one intermission and a pair of brief "seventh inning stretches"—and employing an English translation by Donald Pippin, Lichenstein uses the smallness of the space to effective advantage. Full review here

"This LA BOHEME...is one of the best stage experiences of the year."
