Supernatural Double-Bill

WORLD PREMIERE:
We heart U, Nosferatu
or At Home With the Dracula’s
by Jack Paglen

Come join Cinnabar as we explore our scarier side. Set around Halloween, we will offer a one-act about Dracula

In Jack’s media savvy, witty and intelligent script the pursuer literally becomes the pursued. Vlad the Impaler, also known as Count Dracula, agrees to video chat with Mary Anne Wexler, a devoted fan of vampire fiction. Mary Anne has always dreamed of meeting a vampire. Vlad has always dreamed of a world full of people just like Mary Anne.
A side-splitting satire on the current popular obsession with vampire lore as portrayed in movies like Twilight and True Blood.

In the Press...

"Actress Allison Marcom Baker appears with actor Keith Baker in the production via Skype,... is a powerful threat to a modern vampire named Vlad in this new one-act stage comedy", Petaluma 360, Cinnabar Theater presents a supernatural double feature, Jack Paglen's “Dracula” and Gian-Carlo Menotti's “The Medium,” Nov. 5-21. The Medium
by Gian-Carlo Menotti

Having attended a séance, Menotti was so intrigued by the medium’s sham genius that he wrote this operatic thriller about a medium who becomes haunted by the supernatural images she conjures by cheap magic, with shocking consequences.

By YOVANNA BIEBERICH, ARGUS-COURIER
"..a unique evening of contrast, with Paglen providing a humorous look at the current vampire craze, while Menotti's old-world “The Medium” is dark and sinister."

"...Jack Paglen's sense of humor and the way he has included modern technology brings a fun, modern twist to the body of vampire fiction, from Bram Stoker's 1897 novel ‘Dracula' to Stephenie Meyer's ‘Twilight' series.' ”

"The evening of theater comes to a more serious and disturbing close with Gian Carlo Menotti's 'The Medium.' The opera tells the tale of Madame Flora's (Valentina Osinkski) descent into madness and murder, with haunting melodies.....Osinski's fourth appearance with Cinnabar theater as the deeply troubled Madame Flora. She plays the role with passion and terror — truly a great performance."

"'We heart U, Nosferatu or At Home with the Draculas' - now playing at Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma ...a hilarious comedy by Jack Paglen. Don’t miss this fantastic spoof on today’s latest vampire craze and on the use of modern technology. After the vampire play Cinnabar treats you to a double feature with its one act opera 'The Medium' starring Tina Osinski. This excellent production tells the story of how desperately people want to speak to a lost loved one and the fears that lead them to believe a charlatan." More...

" 'We heart U, Nosferatu / The Medium' - ....there is something appetizing about this odd evening of theater, like eating vanilla ice cream drizzled with balsamic vinegar: served together, each brings out the unexpected flavors in the other."

" 'We heart U, Nosferatu' - ...Paglen's clever ' We heart U, Nosferatu'  script examines the nature of evil ... in a very funny show that actually has something juicy to say.  Gian Carlo Menotti's opera 'The Medium' also has something to say...as Monica - beautifully played by Emma McNairy ... as alcoholic con-woman - a wonderful performance by Valentina Osinski."

"Taken with 'Nosferatu' Menotti's lovely examination of the power of belief gives us the satisfying, full-spectrum opportunity to laugh and then to cry."

Dracula:
''A knockout new comedy...the most entertaining play I've seen at Cinnabar...uproariously funny...."
