Travels With My Aunt
by Giles Havergal
Based on the novel by Graham Greene
Directed by Ken Ruta

Retired bank manager Henry Pulling, “a rather static character,” as he says of himself, is so bound to habit that the death and funeral of his mother offer an “agreeably exciting” break in routine. Enter Aunt Augusta, and Henry’s life turns completely topsy-turvy with murder, mayhem, round-the-world travel and - love.

Reviews:

"Petaluma’s Cinnabar Theater has just the right intimate setting for 'Travels with My Aunt'....The play has the feel of listening to an old radio show, as Henry Pulling regales you with his travels and describes the settings. Spend an afternoon or evening laughing and using your imagination. Privitt manages Henry’s naïve nature well and Kalli Jonsson’s Aunt Augusta is done with real flair. Richard Rossi handles a medley of characters, namely two of Aunt Augusta’s lovers, and most comically, Wordsworth. Floyd Harden adeptly plays characters ranging from bartender to American teenager." more

...when [Graham Greene's] novel is adapted for the stage by Giles Havergal and directed by Ken Ruta at Cinnabar Theater, it becomes one of the most memorable and funniest comedies in theater history. But, more than anything, what propels this play over the top is that four very talented male actors play the parts of all the male and female characters adding a dimension of comedy that not only keeps the audience laughing, but also keeps them intrigued. more
