The Marriage of Figaro

The Marriage of Figaro

Read the rave reviews!

“Funny, silly, antic, outrageous and delightful… Still as smutty after all these years, and just as irresistible, Cinnabar's Marriage of Figaro is scandalously good fun… The principal singers (many of them professional opera talent with New York, San Francisco and even Carnegie Hall experience) are also marvelous actors.”

North Bay Bohemian

“Light, sweet and oh, so delicious… Inventive and entertaining… This is a musical romp. And it’s so deftly done you’ll walk out not only humming the music — this is Mozart — but the scenery, costumes, direction and characters.”

Argus Courier

“Spicy… Romantic… Ecstatic… Figaro sparkles with joy and jubilation… Cinnabar is the perfect venue for this production. The theater space is intimate, so you are close enough to the singers, and the orchestra, to really see their faces and know that this is the real deal…. The voices and orchestra are superb. But the icing on the cake is that it’s in English [so] you can fully understand and enjoy all the romantic escapades and sly saucy wit.”

Sonoma County Gazette

“Fabulous… Glorious… A treat you can’t pass up… Wherever you’re seated at Cinnabar, you’re just a few feet from the action, so you can take in the expressions on the singer’s faces and the fine details in the costumes and props, making it intense and immersive, just as opera should be.”

Art Hound

“Fantastic fun! ... Absolutely gorgeous… Patrons have been flocking to this tiny theater to hear huge voices and a 10-piece orchestra.”

Best of Bay Area

“Gorgeous… Another rousing opera success at Cinnabar… See The Marriage of Figaro as soon as you can. It’s a timeless piece and a splendid production masterfully directed by Elly Lichenstein.”

The Marriage of Figaro

Music by W.A. Mozart
Libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte
Music direction by Mary Chun
Stage direction by Elly Lichenstein

Mozart’s music soars at Cinnabar with this rich and playful production of his enormously popular opera. Performed entirely in English, The Marriage of Figaro tells a luscious tale of seduction, deception, and forgiveness.

The Count keeps chasing skirt, and the Countess wants to catch him in the act. So she conspires with two wisecracking servants who delight audiences as they outwit their master.

It’s comic opera at its best, mixing saucy jokes and gorgeous songs of love. After a sold-out run of Carmen, Artistic Director Elly Lichenstein and Music Director Mary Chun reunite for this glorious marriage of music and theater.
