FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE - Arts Access programs for Local Youth
To train young people in the dramatic and musical performing arts. To help them to make lasting and meaningful connections between the performing arts and their daily lives. To foster the understanding that art should be a normal part of daily life and belongs in every citizen’s expectation of their society.
In the fundamental importance of arts education in the lives of children. Drama classes, in particular, have traditionally been a safe haven for emotional and social exploration, a place where “acting out” is not forbidden, but actively encouraged in a supportive atmosphere. Drama classes foster teamwork and provide young performers with a sense of pride and belonging.
Founded in 1983, Cinnabar Theater’s Young Repertory Theater is Sonoma County’s largest and longest-running program for youth in the performing arts, serving hundreds of students annually from Sonoma County and beyond. In addition to several fully-staged youth productions each year, Young Rep includes year-round classes and summer camps, adult choruses and concerts as well as opportunities for students to perform in Cinnabar’s professional season. Young Rep is open to youngsters aged 4-18, who benefit from the instruction provided by working theater professionals. No child is turned away due to inability to pay.
