ARGUS-COURIER SPORTS EDITOR JJ Says: 'Always...Patsy Cline’ is worth missing a basketball game or two to see
I had anticipated a play about the life and times of Patsy Cline, her loves, her fame, her heartache and her tragic death in an airplane crash at 30. I had hoped for a few reasonable renditions of her more well-known recordings.
What I, along with the rest of a capacity audience, received was authentic Patsy Cline, a hilarious and touching story line and enough energy to warm us on a chilling winter evening.
It isn’t only my love for authentic country music that moves me to become novice play critic, but the quality of the performance and the music. It is dang good.
Mary Gannon-Graham doesn’t cover Patsy Cline, she sings Patsy Cline. Close your eyes and she is Patsy Cline. More...

Staging a pitch-perfect 'Patsy'
Graham captures country legend's style in production at Cinnabar in Petaluma
Mary Gannon Graham, as the country singer who died in a plane crash in 1963 at the peak of her career, has mastered Patsy's style.
Graham's body language during her vocals is historically perfect, right down to the faint swing of the hips and hokey finger-snapping. Her face is endlessly expressive, from her dreamy romantic gaze during the love songs to her sly, wicked grin during the honky-tonk numbers.
Backed by a terrific six-man country band onstage at Petaluma's Cinnabar Theater, Graham delivers emotionally blistering renditions of Cline's greatest hits -- particularly "Crazy" and "I Fall to Pieces" -- that would curl the toes on a cowboy boot. More...

Unconventionally structured and playfully surreal, Always, Patsy Cline was inspired by a real-life, two-year-long correspondence between the singer and Louise Seger, a boisterous Houston-based fan who, after bumping into Cline before a concert in 1961, invited her to spend the night at her house after the show. Though Seger never saw Cline again, that one night of homespun female bonding sparked off a pen-pal friendship that lasted until the plane crash that ended Cline's life in 1963.

Always, Patsy Cline ... gives us an opportunity to experience the subtle greatness of Cline’s music. Mary Gannon-Graham plays the part of Patsy Cline. Not only does she look like Cline, she has the same smooth depth and clarity when she sings and sing she does, belting out about 25 songs in this musical, which is more music than story.... Don’t miss this show full of humor, friendship and song.
