Cabaret

Aug 31 – Sept 16, 2018
by John Kander, Fred Ebb & Joe Masteroff
Mary Chun, Music Director; Elly Lichenstein, Stage Director

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd and remind them to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through those dangerous times? Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theater history, including Cabaret, Willkommen and Maybe This Time. Life is beautiful in this Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.

The Great God Pan

Oct 12 – 28, 2018
by Amy Herzog
Taylor Korobow, Director

Taylor Korobow, who so delicately and lovingly directed The Quality of Life in 2016, returns to Cinnabar to stage this deeply affecting play about the interaction of identity, psychology, and pathology. 34-year-old Jamie’s sense of general well-being is destabilized by the discovery that he may — or then again, may not — have been the victim of  childhood abuse. Memory runs murky as Jamie and those around him attempt to come to grips with the past while facing their present truth.

A Perfect Ganesh

Mar 29 – Apr 14, 2019
by Terrence McNally
Michael Fontaine, Director

The pilgrimage tradition is turned on its head when two outwardly unremarkable, middle-aged friends throw themselves into a rousing tour of India, each with her own secret dreams of what the fabled land of intoxicating opposites will do for the suffering she hides within. Who else but the golden elephant god could intervene? Fluid in his power to assume any guise, Ganesha is the spiritual center around which the play spins itself, drawing upon the tragic and the comic, the beautiful and the deplorable, until a breathtaking release arrives for both women.

The Barber of Seville

June 7 –  23, 2019
by Gioachino Rossini
Mary Chun, Music Director; Elly Lichenstein, Stage Director

Rossini’s laugh-out-loud romantic comedy has been entertaining audiences for more than 200 years with its outrageous stage antics and vocal acrobatics. Featuring some of opera’s most recognizable tunes, audiences are sure to leave the theater singing Figaro, Figaro, Fiiiiiii-garo!
A savvy young woman must outsmart a pompous old lecher who stands between her and her true love. Hilarity ensues as the would-be couple, aided and abetted by the wily barber Figaro, run through a barrage of trickery that includes false identities, a most unusual voice lesson and opera’s funniest case of scarlet fever. With a few close shaves along the way, in the end, time’s up for the old goat and love triumphs over all.

This production is made possible by a gift from an Anonymous Member of the Executive Producer’s Circle
with additional support by Sponsor Circle Member Sandra O’Brien
