The classically trained Edlos have been together since 1989, and have been gathering an ever growing following. They have been the opening act for many great stars including Ray Charles, Chicago, Kim Carnes, The Everly Brothers, Lou Rawls, Bonnie Raitt, Crystal Gayle, David Crosby and Graham Nash, Queen Latifah, Tower of Power, En Vogue and many others.

Lara Bruckmann, Ariela Morgenstern and Darla Wigginton, together with Miles Graber and Inara Morgenstern on piano, offer an exciting musical revue spanning several decades performed in a lively cabaret style. The term "girlkultur" was used in 1930’s Berlin to exemplify the "new" woman: independent, sexual and socially irreverent. The members of Girlkulture embody this cultural heritage and celebrate the first bold adventurers of Berlin by offering a glimpse of Weimar Berlin with a modern twist. Highlights include songs from Kurt Weill, Cole Porter and William Bolcom, as well as a witty take on the "Jail House Tango" from the musical "Chicago."

The folk duo, Men of Worth, who position themselves firmly at the extreme, traditional end of the Celtic music spectrum, sing songs that are so authentic, so closely connected to their heritage, that Scotsman Donnie Macdonald sings some in his native Gaelic; while Irishman James Keigher includes time-polished pieces saved from the oral traditions of his native County Mayo. "We could not grow away from those sounds", said Macdonald, "so we have preserved them as accurately and authentically as we can, in our performances". Each play various instruments, among them mandolin, guitar, concertina and bodhran, a handheld drum.

Musicians from different cultural backgrounds make exciting music that shows how cultures can work together in this ensemble variation of the trendsetting group Ancient Future, the world's first and longest running musical organization dedicated exclusively to the mission of the creation of world fusion music. The group's leader, Matthew Montfort, coined that term in 1978. He considers it a process rather than a genre. It is the process that has throughout history led to the creation of new music traditions through cross-cultural collaboration. In concert, this ensemble inspires audiences with its uptempo fusion of music from around the world featuring world renowned musical virtuosos.

Polyphonic rhythms and a lush tapestry of guitar, charango, and lyrical panpipes by the Oscar Reynolds Trio reveal the rich diversity of Bolivian music. Oscar Reynolds plays complex, flowing melodies on the antara simultaneously with emotive, expressive chords and melodies on the guitar, while master percussionists Fernando de Sanjinez and Lalo Izquierdo bring dynamic and invigorating Bolivian and Afro-Bolivian beats on the cajón, bombo, and other native percussion instruments. José Luis Reynolds brings the high-pitched elegance of the charango, an Andean adaptation of the guitar with five double-strings, to complete the sound.

Phoebe Vernier, "La Fibi," is one of San Francisco’s premier flamenco dancers. She has been studying, teaching, and performing flamenco for 21 years. She has danced in the companies of Rosa Montoya’s Bailes Flamencos, La Tania Music and Dance, Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco, and has toured nationally with The Boston Flamenco Ballet, The Company of Rinaldo Rincon, the renowned Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Company, and the Madrid based "Compania Noche Flamenca" at the Hollywood Bowl.

The Cypress String Quartet has performed to great acclaim at prominent venues worldwide, including appearances at the Kennedy Center, The Ravinia Festival and Stanford Lively Arts. The Olinda Duo, soprano Silvia Lazo and classical guitarist Paul Grove, regularly perform throughout the United States and abroad, bringing the finest and most representative Latin musical art forms right to your doorstep. Their classical-to-contemporary repertoire takes the audiences into a warm and beautiful journey through South America’s vast musical landscape. The duo’s repertoire includes classical pieces from the most notable composers of Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, Argentina and Cuba. Their Jazz/Popular repertoire features Bossa Nova, rumba, boleros and tango music.

The warm, generous talents of this beloved local soprano have enriched the lives of hundreds of Festivalgoers and Bay Area aficionados throughout the years. Morris performs works by Dallapiccola, Ives, Berlioz, Purcell, Handel, Mahler and a work by Richard Felciano for soprano and tape.

A unique ensemble developed by Maestro Ali Akbar Khan. It was originally inspired by the experiments of his illustrious father, Baba Allauddin Khansahib, who created the Maihar Band in India with young World War I orphans whom he trained to play classical instruments. Weaving traditional Indian melodies and rhythms into a dynamic orchestral texture, the New Maihar Band presents original compositions by Maestro Khan (who, with composer George Ruckert, has created over 30 works for the ensemble), combining the contemporary energy of modern music with the deep insights of an ancient tradition.

Bay Area cellists Gwyneth Davis and Judiyaba are joined by clarinetist Larry London and pianist Marilyn Thompson for a rousing concert of new and old music, spanning the sublime to the joyously ridiculous. Program includes Gian Carlo Melotti’s luscious Suite for 2 Cellos and Piano, Brahms’ gorgeous Clarinet Trio and cello duets by London, Eshima and others.

This brilliant young Russian pianist possesses the rare gift of both virtuoso technique and deep feeling and shares his gift throughout Europe. This concert explores the repertoire of Glinka, Prokofiev, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky with a twist: all music relates in some way to the vast and rich tradition of the classic fairy tale.
