The Green Bird by Carlo Gozzi, adapted by Conrad Bishop

by Carlo Gozzi, adapted by Conrad Bishop
April 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 2007. All shows at 7:30pm, except Sunday at 2pm

Here's a story with more delicious ingredients than a banana split! We have the foolish and broken-hearted king, a wife imprisoned under a sink and puppies substituted for babies. If that isn't enough, add a kindly chancellor, a hard-hearted mother and living statues. Sprinkle it all over with talking birds, singing apples and dancing waters and you only begin to touch on the magical fantasy about to unfold! The Green Bird is the tale of the long, hard and hilarious journey of two young people who must endure many trials of the flesh and spirit as they wade through the swamps of vanity, greed and longing, to gain a deeper understanding of life and love. Combining commedia dell'arte with wild imaginings and sharp social commentary, this rendering of Gozzi's elegant story will stay with you and your children long after the curtain rings down. Tickets $12 general/$8 children 12 and under
