The volunteers that worked at Cinnabar on National Rebuilding Day 2007
I would like to thank all the people from Rebuilding Petaluma who showed up at the Cinnabar Theater on April 23, and set to work to make it a better place. I also want to thank the merchants who donated materials and those organizations and individuals who contributed to the “Dress Ely” fund, money that was used to pay for those things that had to be purchased.
Unless you have been a recipient or participated in a “Rebuilding Petaluma” project, you probably don’t know what a wonder they carry out on that day. It’s amazing how much was done in such a short amount of time. What I sometimes looked upon as an overwhelming amount of work that needed to be done was carried out in less than 24 hours. The dressing room was changed from a dungeon-like area into an expansive open space. New doors and windows replaced rotted doors and windows. A new hardwood floor was laid in the studio and the garden area was picked clean of weeds. Again, it was a transformation carried out in one day! Amazing and wonderful is all I can call it.
There are more people than I even know about who helped and deserve to be thanked. I do, however, know three special people who worked on the project for months to put all the pieces together: Kristi Dark, Carl Rebstock and Glenn Schaffer. It was not an easy project but I am so happy and thankful that they made it theirs.
