Volunteer of the Month - February

Why Volunteer of the Month?

Whenever needed, Trudee volunteers to work the lobby or backstage for performances, and for a number of years has been the Beverage/Supply Coordinator for the Great Petaluma Chili Cook-off (a huge job!) which benefits the Youth Program. “It has been an amazing experience working with such a talented and dedicated group of volunteers.”

About Trudee

The fabulous Trudee Herman was born in Palo Alto, CA and raised in Burlingame where she attended Burlingame High. After graduation, she attended De Anza College for Interior Design and became a Certified Occupancy Specialist. Trudee is also a Notary Public (always nice to know one of those!) She now works as a Property Management Specialist for PEP Housing, which provides affordable housing in Sonoma County for limited-income seniors and persons with disabilities.

For fun, Trudee loves to cook and bake; especially for friends. She puts that love of cooking to good use volunteering as a Chef’s Assistant at Ramekins Culinary School in Sonoma. She also enjoys “sharing a good read with my book club.”

This, of course, is in addition to being a wife to husband, Richard and mom to kids Nick, age 17 and Natalie, age 11. Nick and Natalie have both been seen numerous times on the Cinnabar stage. Nick is currently playing Jupiter and Natalie is playing Cupid in the Young Rep’s production of Orpheus in the Underworld.

Involvement with Cinnabar Young Rep

We moved to Petaluma in 1998 from San Carlos. We didn’t know anyone in the community or what was available to us at the time. I first saw an ad for Cinnabar Summer Camp in the paper and asked my son Nick, age 9, if he’d be interested. . .and, of course, 8 years later here we are with both kids in the Youth Program. After our first experience we were so impressed with the level of professionalism and creativeness from the Cinnabar staff we just had to stay involved.

The benefit our family, especially our children, have derived from the Cinnabar program is indescribable. Our children have learned the value of hard work, dedication to a craft, and team dynamics. They have made great friends from all over Sonoma & Marin Counties and the life skills they have learned are immeasurable.
