Lisa Eldredge
Volunteer of the Month - January
Why Volunteer of the Month?
Although Lisa is a staff member at Cinnabar, she donates countless unpaid hours managing her costumes and materials. With the addition of our new storage facility and the remodeling of the dressing rooms, Lisa has been slavishly moving boxes and reorganizing “fabric, frills and furbelows,” (the name of her 2004 costume installation curated by Petaluma Arts Council. It is an enormous job and, being a slightly warped person, she actually seems to enjoy it! Thank you, Lisa!!
About Lisa
Lisa Eldredge is the Wardrobe Mistress for Cinnabar Theater and resident costume designer, creating gorgeous productions for both our Professional Season and the Cinnabar Young Rep. She is also an accomplished flutist and flute instructor. Lisa is married to singer/musician/computer whiz, Gilbert Eldredge and together they have two children, Nathaniel and Jordan.
Lisa and Cinnabar
Lisa was introduced to Cinnabar by her husband. “Gilbert had some connection with Cinnabar from the days when he was an undergraduate as SSU. When we moved to Sonoma County it was natural that as musicians we would gravitate to Cinnabar!”
Her first experience with Cinnabar was a family affair. “A very early experience was playing in the tiny pit orchestra for the first production of Tailor of Gloucester in the late ‘80s. Elly played cello and we had a blast! Our kids were all in the show as little mice making it as precious a memory as you can have.”
How has your family benefited from involvement with Cinnabar?
“Well, I think overall Cinnabar has made theater a natural part of each of our lives. And now that the kids are away from home it’s one important way that we regroup and reconnect. But specifically:
“Gilbert gets to laugh and be loved for it!
“Nathaniel learned that he loves theater, from the audience perspective. I think what sold him was seeing “The Good Soldier Schweik” at a tender young age and taking great delight in enthusiastically repeating Marvin’s character’s line, “Aspirin and enemas!” (ad nauseum, of course!)
“Jordan found his passion in musical theater. The wonderful drama and music program here gave him focus as a teenager and a vision for his future. I wonder if people really know how unique and sincere the work is here with the kids in Cinnabar’s program.
“For myself, I get to design costumes and work with a marvelous artistic team held up by committed and well organized administrative and production staffs. The performers who come through here have enriched my life beyond measure and together everyone has given me great faith in the ability of people of all ages to come together and make love for the world. The Cinnabar creed is “work hard, play hard.” Well, it turns out that they are one in the same thing and it’s exhilarating!” |
