Bob Peak and Bob Stires,
Event Organizers for AFTERNOON OF WINE AND ROSES
Bob Peak:
“My first
contact with Cinnabar Theater came when my wife
Marty White and I took a coworker of mine, who
was a French national, to Au Café Momus
at Cinnabar six or seven years ago. That
delightful recital, with Elly Lichenstein, Eileen
Morris, and other fine singers singing French
songs in the spirit of La Bohème's fictional
café, was a revelation to us all. Most
striking for me was when Elly sat on my knee,
the spotlight turned our way, and she sang to
me (and to the other 100 or so people in the
place). We were instantly hooked on Cinnabar
Theater.
In the next year or so, our daughter Charlotte
took an improv class through the city recreation
department that was put on by the teachers at Cinnabar. Then
she was hooked! After a couple of summer
camps and some other productions, it was clear
that Charlotte was committed to singing and acting. I
volunteered for the Parent Guild, helped with Chili
Cookoffs, and collected for wine for Wine and Chocolate
events near Valentine's day. It's been a
relief that other dedicated volunteers have taken
over that job, as well as acquiring wine for last
year's Wine and Roses. But as long as Charlotte
is interested (and probably beyond), I'll still
do what I can to help. So here I am, helping
with wine for this year's Wine and Roses, and feeling
blessed to live in a place that has a vibrant center
of the performing arts like our own Cinnabar Theater!”

Bob Stires:
“Pat and
Bob can't walk into their kitchen without seeing
the Klebe father and son's elegant handiwork. Our
kitchen cabinets gestated in Marvin's, Aloysha's
and Pat's creative minds, were born in the shop
behind the theater, were installed during the
difficult period when Marvin was not well. Aloysha
often spoke of the theater and the theater family,
never requested assistance, but certainly needed
it and, more importantly deserved it. I
wanted to help in any way possible, and it was
finally decided I would become one of the wine
gophers. I have enjoyed talking to the
various wineries, requesting they donate their
labors of love to Cinnabar Theater.” |
