Ray Hendess has
been volunteer webmaster for Cinnabar Theater since
October, 2004, having previously created the Chili
Cookoff website. We have declared him volunteer
of the month to recognize his excellent work in
creating and maintaining our website. Cinnabar's
website functions smoothly and looks great, and
Ray responds instantly when asked to make changes
or create new pages.
Ray has provided this background information :
"Back in 1980, I thought I could get through the
rest of my life without bothering to learn about computers;
then in 1981 at the urging of a friend, I built my
own HeathKit (in three intensive days, coming out only
for meals). Ever since then, I've been hooked. Somehow,
for me, it has been a natural - although I've never
taken a computer course, I have developed the skills
to be a systems administrator, Access database programmer,
webmaster, and general computer nut. I now maintain
the web sites for three non-profits (since I am retired,
this is my new, non-paying career), and do a little
for-profit web site design as well.
Before computers, I was a research
chemist at Eastman Kodak, in Rochester, N.Y., and
then owned and managed rental real estate (also
in Rochester).
Rory Keller and I moved to San
Francisco in 1988 when she got an opportunity
to transfer there with Xerox. In 1996,
we moved to Petaluma. Since we have always been
avid theater goers (about 50 shows a year), we
checked out Cinnabar; and found the shows to be
wonderful.
When I'm not at the computer
working on the Cinnabar website or going to theater,
you'll find me in the garden growing our veggies
and fruit, at the gym, hiking, biking, or doing maintenance
in our 67-year-old house." |
