Why
Volunteer of the Month?
Pamela Torliatt has been a steadfast supporter
of Cinnabar for years, and as a councilmember has
proven herself a staunch advocate for the arts
and other non-profit organizations that make up
the heart of Petaluma. Recently, in response to
heavy cuts in the city’s disbursement of
funds to Cinnabar, Ms Torliatt personally chose
Cinnabar as one of two beneficiaries of the annual
BATA (Bay Area Toll Authority) charity golf tournament.
(The other beneficiary was Petaluma People Services.)
We are grateful for her interest and are inspired
by her consistency in “walking her talk.” Thanks,
Pam!
About Pamela
Pamela Torliatt is a fourth generation Petaluman
and has served the public for the last 12 years:
from 1993 to 1996 as a Petaluma Planning Commissioner
and for the last nine years as a Petaluma City
Councilmember. She is currently running for State
Assembly.
Pamela has won three consecutive elections to
the Petaluma City Council, based on her dedication,
good judgment and ability to get things done. Over
the years, her popularity has grown and she has
taken on more regional governing responsibilities.
In the November 2004 election, Pamela set a record:
the voters cast more votes for Pam than they had
for any other candidate in Petaluma City history.
Pamela has been appointed to numerous regional
boards and commissions including the Bay Area Air
Quality Management District and the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission.
Pamela works hard to maintain the quality of life
in the sixth district. Her success can be attributed
to her strong record protecting the environment,
listening to her constituents and making decisions
that benefit the entire community. As a leader,
she has taken important steps to increase Petaluma's
vitality and made progress dealing with long-standing
issues facing the City of Petaluma: she has worked
to improve education, ease traffic congestion and
secure both state and federal funding for local
projects.
Pamela was born and raised in Petaluma and attended
local public schools. In 1989, she graduated from
the University of California at Santa Barbara with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Upon graduation she returned home where she entered
the political arena with help from then-Petaluma
City Councilmember Lynn Woolsey and became active
as a Treasurer for Sonoma County National Women's
Political Caucus. Pamela currently works for Meridian
Commercial, Inc. where she has been a commercial
real estate agent for the last seven years. |
