Jared Emerson Johnson,
Lifelong Cinnabar Volunteer & Cast Member in THE
WEDDING
Jared Emerson Johnson has been a part of Cinnabar
for a great deal of his life. His contributions
to Cinnabar are varied and great: he has
assisted with and taught our youth program as well
as made costumes for a number of Gilbert and Sullivan
bobbies, played the violin in concerts, and sung
in the Cinnabar Opera Chorus. It is in the
latter position that we honor him this October
- he sings bass in The
Wedding, our world premiere opera. Jared
has risen to the challenge of interpreting difficult
and beautiful music, as well as sustaining complex
characterization, and by doing so, has helped the
entire ensemble to reach great heights of accomplishment. Here's
what he says of himself:
“Cinnabar's
been my second home for as long as I can remember. I
literally grew up there - singing and acting my
way through the kids programs in the 80s, assisting
classes in the 90s, and instructing the musical
theater summer camps in more recent years.
I think I first started volunteering at Cinnabar
in 1995, and I've not been able to stay away for
long ever since! Now, after having completed
a music degree summa cum laude at Cornell University,
I find myself returning to this second home, this
second family, this beautiful red theater on the
hill where my heart will always be.” |
